Welcome!
If you have a question or comment, please fill out and submit this form.
This website is intended to serve several purposes.
First and foremost
, it is a depository of images I have recorded over my life span. These images represent what I considered to be worthy at the time they were recorded. By "worthy", I mean that the subjects in the images were a) representative of the locale, b) were engaging, c) were evocative, or d) were meaningful to me in some regard. They could be all of the above. They may be informative, thought provoking, or simply pleasant to look at.
Secondly
, I hope that this website provides some information that may prove useful to you as an aspiring photographer. Almost anyone can press the shutter button on a DSLR, a point and shoot camera, or a smart phone. The ease of use and photographic potential of today's devices is substantial. What sets apart the images recorded by many a casual user and the images you may admire in publications and other media is among other things, attention to detail. Great photographs do not just happen. Their creation requires an understanding of what makes an image resonate with a viewer. The "Gear” section of this website is designed to give you some suggestions on how to succeed in creating images that are built on concepts used for many years in creating memorable photographs.
Finally
, by providing real world examples of what I have seen in various regions of this beautiful world, I hope that you will be inspired to visit some of these places and spend time both enjoying the "view" and recording it in a way that takes advantage of your photographic skills to share with others. By doing so, you will be adding to the body of work admired by anyone with whom you share your memories. If you have fun doing so, you have succeeded!
